講師紹介：李剛氏は中国上海交通大学を卒業後2004年に来日し，山口大学で修士，博士号を取得の後，米国オクラホマ大学にPD（博士研究員）として勤務．その後，国際石油サービス会社Halliburtonに就職し，同社の米国Houston研究所で岩盤工学研究室を立ち上げ，水圧破砕実験，ＡＥ測定などの設備を導入して研究を企画・指導した後，天然ガス会社Anadarkoに転職して現在に至っている．この間，国際岩盤工学会(ISRM: International Society for Rock Mechanics)のその年の世界最高レベルの博士論文を表彰するISRM Rocha Medalを2009年に受賞．日本人の受賞者は過去2名あるが，いずれもオーストラリアや米国の大学に提出した博士論文による受賞であり，いまだに日本の大学に提出した博士論文による受賞は，李剛氏だけである．

講演概要：Drilling in depleted deepwater fields can be challenging in order to maximize and extend field production and profitability. The fluid pressure in the wellbore needs to be high enough to prevent borehole instability and control formation pressure, while at the same time, remaining below sand fracture pressure to avoid lost circulation. To address this challenge, wellbore strengthening techniques have successfully been used to increase formation fracture resistance and reduce mud losses while drilling with narrow margins or drilling with high over-balance in pressure-depleted reservoirs.

講師経歴：Gang Li is a Sr. Staff Rock Mechanics Engineer at Anadarko Petroleum. His research interests include new development on laboratory rock mechanics, wellbore stability both onshore and offshore, and completion optimizations. Gang holds a PhD degree in geomechanics from Yamaguchi University in Japan. Before joining Anadarko, he worked as a postdoctoral researcher for The University of Oklahoma, Geomechanics team lead for Halliburton, and Geomechanics manager for FTS International. He is the recipient of 2009 Rocha Medal from International Society for Rock Mechanics.
