The Mining and Materials Processing Institute of Japan (MMIJ) Privacy Policy
Established (approved by the Council) October 2, 2015
The Mining and Materials Processing Institute of Japan (hereinafter referred to as the “MMIJ”), in recognition of the importance of personal information, hereby establishes and observes this Privacy Policy for the proper collection, use and management of personal information.
(1) Collection of personal information
The MMIJ may, within the scope necessary, collect information by which a specific individual can be identified when conducting business to achieve the purpose of the MMIJ. In such cases, the MMIJ shall, as a general rule, clearly specify the purpose of the collection and collect such information according to the intention of the provider.
(2) Use of personal information
The MMIJ shall use the collected personal information within the scope of the purpose clearly specified at the time of collection. However, the MMIJ may use the collected personal information for other purposes in any of the following cases:
1. When such use is based on the provisions of law;
2. When the provider has given consent regarding such use;
3. When a whole or part of the handling of personal data is entrusted, within the scope necessary, to a third party which has signed a non-disclosure agreement with the MMIJ (e.g., when notifying a company entrusted with delivery and other services of the names and addresses);
4.Other cases where there are legitimate grounds for conducting business approved by the General Assembly or the Council of the MMIJ.
(3) Management of personal information
The MMIJ shall strive to ensure the proper management of the collected personal information, so as to prevent any leakage, destruction, tampering or loss of information. However, information which is disclosed by the provider or information which is already published shall be outside the scope of management by the MMIJ.
(4) Disclosure and correction, etc. of personal information
When requested by the provider of personal information to disclose his/her own personal information, the MMIJ, as a general rule, shall disclose such information without delay.

(5) Handling of personal information on the MMIJ Website
The use of the website operated and managed by the MMIJ (hereinafter referred to as the “MMIJ Website”) shall be done at the responsibility and discretion of each user.
The MMIJ Website provides links to other websites to provide useful information and services to members. The MMIJ shall not assume any responsibility for any loss or damage arising from the use of various types of information obtained from other websites to which links are provided on the MMIJ Website or for the security of personal information on such other websites.
The MMIJ obtains logs (access records) on the current status of access to the MMIJ Website. The obtained log information shall not be related to personal information and shall be used only as statistical information.
(6) About cookies
Cookies, which are intended to provide easier access to visitors when revisiting the MMIJ Website, do not infringe the visitors’ privacy and do not have adverse effects on the visitors’ computers. The MMIJ may collect information contained in the cookies from the visitors of the MMIJ Website, including the overall trends or patterns of the visitors’ browsing behavior on the MMIJ Website. However, the collected information shall be used by the MMIJ only for the purpose of analyzing the access trends so as to provide better service, and shall be handled as confidential information in the same way as with personal information. (7) Change in the Privacy Policy
Our Privacy Policy is subject to change without prior notice due to changes in the law or other reasons. All such changes shall be posted on the MMIJ Website and shall come into force on the day of the posting. Furthermore, the most recent version of our Privacy Policy shall always be applied to the personal information collected by the MMIJ.
